One of the Dodecanese, Kos is a welcoming and fertile island offering an attractive mix of beautiful beaches and interesting sights. Indeed, Kos has some of the best beaches in Greece and is one of the most famous sailing and surfing destinations in the Mediterranean.

Kos Town is the island’s capital and main port. It has a relaxed atmosphere with wide avenues, a Venetian Castle overlooking the harbour and an Archaeological Museum in the central Piazza.

Some have said that Kos is simply a smaller version of its neighbouring island, Rhodes. However, this would be to miss so much of what is quintessentially Kos.

Hipprocates, the father of medicine is said to have founded the world’s first known school of medicine under the spreading plane tree - which still stands in Kos town today.
